How to Block TikTok on iPhone: Screen Time or Until Done

Updated

You can block TikTok on an iPhone with Screen Time's App Limits (Settings → Screen Time → App Limits), which caps it at a set amount of time a day, or with RemindLock, an iPhone reminder app that keeps TikTok locked until a specific task is done.

Block TikTok with Screen Time (built in)

Screen Time is built into iOS and free to use. These steps follow Apple's Set up Screen Time for yourself on iPhone.

Set an App Limit

  1. Open Settings and tap Screen Time.
  2. Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
  3. Choose TikTok (open the Social category to find it), or select the whole Social category.
  4. Tap Next and set the amount of time per day.
  5. Tap Add.

When the time is used up, TikTok shows a time-limit screen until midnight.

Schedule Downtime

  1. Open Settings → Screen Time → Downtime.
  2. Turn on the schedule and pick the days and the start and end times.
  3. In Settings → Screen Time → Always Allowed, make sure TikTok is not in the allowed list, so it's blocked during Downtime.

Add a Screen Time passcode

  1. Open Settings → Screen Time.
  2. Tap Lock Screen Time Settings and choose a passcode.

Without a passcode, the limit screen's Ignore Limit lets you keep scrolling. With a passcode, more time needs that passcode, but if you set it and know it yourself, you can enter it and carry on. That's how the built-in tool is meant to work: a nudge you stay in control of, which suits many people.

Keep TikTok locked until a task is done

When a reminder is due, the apps you picked (TikTok, etc.) stay locked until you type "I did" plus the reminder's title, or take a photo.

  • You can instead reschedule it, twice per reminder, with a reason, to a time at least 15 minutes out, or drop it.
  • There's one 15-minute emergency unlock per day, and an optional strict mode.
  • Phone, Messages and apps you mark always allowed are never locked.
  • It uses Apple's Screen Time, it's iPhone only, and it's built for people who ignore reminders, including people with ADHD.
  • It's private: no account, and your data stays on your iPhone.

Which one should you use?

Screen Time is free, already on your phone, and the right pick if you want a daily time cap or a bedtime block. RemindLock fits when the rule is "not until X is done", because the lock ends when the task is done, not when a timer runs out.

Price

RemindLock costs $6.99/month, $44.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $99.99 lifetime, with no free tier. See pricing.
